The Vicmap series of paper sheet maps is produced by the Victorian Department of Sustainability & environment. They are arguably the most detailed topo maps of Victoria available and the series covers the entirety of Victoria. Details include major and minor roads, 4wd tracks, walking tracks, rivers and streams, key localities, buildings and landmarks.

While GPS is a useful aid to navigation, paper maps and compasses are invaluable and should always be carried when travelling in remoter areas as a companion and backup to GPS systems.
